Equestrian Center News

The Yelp  February 2008 edition

Submitted by: Carol L. Holt

We’re on a roll. As has been the case over the last year we continue to make improvements to the stables. Thank you to Doug Lundberg for all his hard work over the past few weeks with cleanup, repair and direction in and around the Equestrian Center.

On Saturday, March 29th we will be hosting our second annual Mudball Classic Horse Show. This is a fun-filled day of English, Western and Leadline riding where participants bring their end of the winter, fuzzy, furry equine, straight out of the pasture, corral or pen.

It is a casual day of showing where we usually enjoy a pot luck lunch. Places will be awarded but not points, so it makes for a relaxed environment. There will be eleven English classes to participate in, five Leadline classes and ten Western classes, so there is something for everyone. New this year we will are introducing pleasure classes for colored and excluded color horses. Some breeds of color horses include; paint, pinto, palomino, dun, buckskin, cremello, perlino and appaloosa. Excluded color horses are chestnut, sorrel, bay, black and brown. Our judge for the day will be Karen Kroske from Fresno. We invite the community to participate or just come by to watch. For more information you can call me at 641-6950 or email me at holthouse@sti.net

I came across some Internet information I would like to share with fellow horse owners. While glancing through Trail Riding Magazine in their Hot on the Trail section they introduced a new search engine which was developed by equestrian Barbara Israel in conjunction with founder Barbara Summers. The search engine is entitle Equilink. According to the quote from Barbara Summers she decided to pursue the development of this site because she was tired of “irrelevant results” from other search engines when surfing for information on the web. I took a look at it briefly. I can’t give you a thumbs up or a thumbs down, just wanted to pass the information along to you.
